Walnut Kanda Bhaji

Kanda bhaji is a popular snack made from sliced onions coated in spicy batter and deep-fried. This crispy and flavorful snack is commonly found in street food stalls across India and is enjoyed by people of all ages. The main ingredient, onion, is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It is easy to prepare at home and a perfect savoury option for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup onions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup California walnuts, chopped roughly
1 tbsp crushed coriander seeds
1 tsp green chilly, chopped
1/2 cup gram flour
1 tsp salt
Oil for frying

Method

1. Thinly slice the onion and place it in a mixing bowl.

2. Rub salt into the onion and allow it to rest.

3. Add gram flour to the sweating onion.

4. Add walnuts, crushed coriander seeds and green chillies.

5. Mix everything together till the gram flour moistens and coats every onion slice.

6. Heat oil for deep frying in a pan.

7. Make a little lump of batter and fry on a medium flame, till they turn crisp and golden brown.

8. Remove the bhaji on an absorbent kitchen napkin.

9. Serve hot and crisp with fried green chillies.
